Particular features:
Kannada derives from the Brahmi script in use between the 5th and the 7th century AC. In 1500 two variants arose: Kannada and Telugu. Subsequently, under the influence of the early 19th century Christian missionaries, Kannada and Telugu were standardised. Characteristics: Kannada is an alphabetic language with consonants that incorporate diacritic vowels, place before, after, above or below the relating consonants
