Dari, like Central Asian Tajik, is considered an eastern dialect of Farsi (Persian) belonging to the Indo-European family of languages. It is one of the two official languages of Afghanistan and is also commonly used in Pakistan. In generally, the idioms spoken by Iranians, Tajiks and Afghans are mutually comprehensible.
