Over 30 years of experience translating Icelandic and other 100 languages, in all the main specialisation sectors.
The translation process ( especially for Icelandic) goes beyond the simple conversion of text from one language to another. Every text contains a specific message which must be transmitted in its entirety into Icelandic and in another language, in line with the text's informative and cultural context. Furthermore, we also carry out DTP services, localize websites and develop software in Icelandic.

Particular features: Icelandic comes from the Germanic branch of Indo-European languages. Iceland's isolation and its strong written tradition have contributed to preserving the original language, which has remained basically unchanged over the past 1000 years, making it one of the languages most similar to the ancient Nordic languages. Indeed, a contemporary Icelander is capable of reading a saga written by his ancestors in the 13th century. Certain grammatical peculiarities that in other languages have diminished over time, have remained basically unchanged in Icelandic. Furthermore, Icelanders are careful not to introduce more foreign words than is strictly necessary in their language, and the new terms that do make it through are often based on an existing word. Historically, the Danish occupation of the island between 1380 and 1918 hardly had any impact on the evolution of Icelandic, which remained in use in the population's daily lives. Danish was used merely for official communications, as was English during the US occupation from 1940 to 1950. In 1944 the constitution proclaimed Icelandic the country's official language and since then it has been the only authorised language for official documents and public debates.
