Machine translation (MT)

Computer aided translations (CAT) and machine translations (MT) are two IT applications designed to aid the translation process, but their differences are considerable and are sometimes not appreciated or perhaps even misunderstood.

The former is based on the creation and management of translation memories and glossaries. It increases productivity and guarantees terminology uniformity as it makes use of previous translations.

The aim of the second system is to replace the human translator with a machine.
In just a few minutes, this technology provides translations which, however, are of a poor quality and sometimes even incomprehensible.

The use of said solution is only justified when – having adapted the system and created specific glossaries – it is used to translate texts exclusively for personal use

Soget only offers services based on machine translations for projects characterised by a clearly-defined, limited and repetitive language. For all other applications for personal use, we suggest making use of free online translators.
