- What does Soget ask of its freelance translators?
Professionalism and a sense of teamwork are essential. In practice, this means:
- providing complete, carefully translated documents, on which all the required checks have been performed
- carefully following the instructions given by the Project Manager. These instructions are the result of an in-depth analysis of the project and detailed discussions with the end client
- respecting deadlines
- informing the Project Manager of any linguistic, technical or logistical problems as soon as they occur. We expect our translators to be totally honest with their Project Managers,
- cooperating with requests for clarification, disputes or complaints or other issues arising with the final client, thus helping us ensure total customer satisfaction.
In addition to the professional skills needed to be a professional translator, we place great importance on a translator's professional ethics and attitude.
We wish to nurture a transparent and highly professional relationship with our collaborators, with the ultimate aim of becoming trusted allies who share the goal of achieving customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- What does Soget offer its freelancers?
Soget aims to possess the same qualities that it demands of its freelancers: professionalism and teamwork.
We will work together to create a pool of satisfied, loyal customers. In order to achieve this, Soget offers:
- preliminary analysis of the job by the Project Manager, with timely identification of possible problems and solutions
- support of the Project Managers in resolving technical, linguistic and organisational problems throughout the project
- quick, sensitive involvement of the Project Manager with the end client to quickly and efficiently define all problems raised by translators, such as interpretation of the source text, confirmation of technical terms, definition of glossaries etc.
- Offer of collaboration
Offers of collaboration must be made by filling in the relevant form.
Filling in all the compulsory fields will allow us to assess job offers either for immediate or for future collaboration.
- How is a working relationship established?
Freelancers are qualified by our Project Managers (PMs).
The process begins with an analysis of the data supplied with the online form. On the basis of market requirements - in the event of research carried out by Soget - or according to a specific scheduling programme, the Project Manager will contact the selected translator by telephone or email.
During this interview, the PM will ask further questions and discuss terms, conditions and rates for the current year, for all services.
Soget will then send an email with instructions telling the translator how to download the documents that need to be filled out.
The process is complete when all forms have been read, signed and returned to us by post or fax.
Soget will then include the translator in its database of active freelancers, enabling him or her to receive job offers.
- How is each job assigned?
When the freelancer's professional profile has been assessed as suitable for a particular job, a Project Manager will contact him or her by telephone or email to ask if he or she is available.
The job will be assigned with a Job Order, which lists detailed instructions for that specific job. Each job has a unique reference number, which is shown at the top of each Job Order. Translators must cite this number when contacting the PM and include it in their invoice.
General instructions and rates are agreed in advance and therefore are not renegotiated job by job.
- What are the main supply requisites?
When the job is complete, our Project Managers should receive:
- the file translated according to the instructions and checked according to our QS and the instructions detailed in the Job order.
Omissions, text left in the original language, spelling mistakes or other errors are not acceptable. Please inform the PM of any doubts well in advance of the deadline.
- the completed job order.
IT IS ESSENTIAL that the completed job order be sent together with the job and not at a later date, to avoid administrative delays.
- How are rates established and updated?
All freelancers working with Soget will have agreed on a rate, which will remain valid for the duration of the calendar year. At the end of each year, translators will receive a form in which they can confirm or change their rates. Rate increases are discussed at this time only, so as to avoid continuous rate reviews throughout the year and time-consuming rate negotiations for individual jobs.
In Italy rates are generally based on the target word count, however Soget tends to use source word counts, in line with foreign usage and with the calculation methods used when adopting Computer Aided Translation programmes (CAT).
When a job is carried out using a CAT programme, the tool automatically produces the word count on the basis of the source document.
Translators using CAT tools must agree different rate brackets in advance. In particular, when using Trados we define maximum 3 rate brackets (repetitions +100% matches, fuzzy matches, no matches).
All rates are inclusive of the 4% INPS contribution (where applicable).
The end-of-year rate confirmation form is also an opportunity for Soget to check and update collaborators' data. Indeed, as well as containing personal data, contact details and bank details to be checked by the collaborator, this form also contains fields in which said collaborator may indicate specialisations, computer programmes used and any other services offered (sworn translations, localisations, etc.).
It is important that this form be sent to us BY FAX as soon as possible: up-to-date rates and an accurate job profile will increase your chances of working with us more and better.
- How does invoicing work?
Soget prefers its translators to issue one invoice each month, specifying the following information:
[ref. n.] - [word count] x [price per word]
The reference number is specified in the Job Order sent by the PM for each job.
The number of words translated must correspond to those indicated in the Job Order on delivering the job, checked by the relevant Project Manager.
The word rate is the one agreed at the start of the year for every language combination offered by the collaborator.
The invoice must be sent by post or email by the end of the month to which it refers. Invoices sent by email need not be sent on by post also.
- Payments
We are proud of our reputation in the translation market as being extremely reliable with regard to payment practices. All accounts are settled punctually on the established date.
