Computer aided translation (CAT) and machine translations (MT) are two IT applications at the service of the translator, but their differences are considerable and are sometimes not appreciated or are perhaps even misunderstood. 

The former is based on the creation and management of translation memories and glossaries. It increases productivity and guarantees terminology uniformity as it makes use of previous translations.

The second generates translations in just a few minutes, aimed at the general understanding of contents. The quality of machine translations is not suitable for the disclosure or publication of documents.

Soget adopts workflows which integrate machine translation and computer aided translation, enabling revisers to work on optimized texts. This system applies previously translated content from our translation memories to new content submitted for translation, integrating same, in the absence of existing translations, with machine translations.
At this point, the revisers' post-editing activity is essential in determining the quality of the final content.

These workflows allow us to translate large volumes quickly and cheaply, and are particularly ideal for multilingual translations of white papers, knowledge bases, portals, etc.
