The Aramaic alphabet, inherited from ancient Phoenician, together with its unusual numbering system, its beautiful script and, above all, its intensely evocative and religious value, make this the language most in demand for the translation of names, initials and dates of birth.

Aramaic can be written using various alphabets: ancient Estrangelo (used for the Peshitta Bible), Serto (which uses phonetic accents) and modern day Syriac.
For example, the Aramaic texts used on the website of Mel Gibson's film "The passion of Christ" are written in Serto.

In order to receive the correct tattoo version, in particular when dealing with first names such as Giovanni, Guglielmo, etc., it is important to understand the difference between a translation and a transliteration.
When a name appears in the holy texts, it is possible to translate it into western languages and Aramaic.
For example, in English Giovanni becomes John and in Aramaic it becomes
pronounced Yuhanon or Yukhannan.
If the name has no direct translation, its original meaning will be translated into Aramaic. Guglielmo, for example, is a Germanic name meaning “strong protection”.
The final alternative is called “transliteration”, i.e. writing a name as it is pronounced, using the Aramaic alphabet; Guglielmo, therefore, could also be transliterated. Transliterations, however, do not always convey the correct pronunciation (indeed, some consonants and vowels do not exist in Aramaic). For this reason, this solution is only suggested as a last resort.
In order to guarantee the validity of its translations, the only translations Soget provides in Aramaic are personal names, terms, initials, dates of birth or entire texts from the New Testament, regarding which there exists secure historical documentary evidence.
