In the past, a number of DTP programs such as Ventura Publisher and Interleaf were the de facto publishing standards for technical manuals. Today, we may avail of a number of new formats, thanks to improved integration with operating systems, the advent of suites including highly integrated products, the existence of new and improved functions, and the support of an increasing number of languages.
In particular, we aim to migrate manuals and other documents, sometimes thousands of pages long, from one format to another. Reasons for migrating from one format to another include: programmes abandoned by their programmers (e.g. FrameMaker for Macintosh), an inability to manage all the languages required in a single document (many DTP programmes do not support right-to-left scripts such as Arabic, double-byte eastern languages such as Chinese, etc.), the need to integrate a document with an external source of data (e.g. multilingual catalogues, etc.) We are able to migrate files between the following programs, using Macintosh and Windows:
The service also includes the creation of templates and layouts for new documentation lines and the standardisation of SGML, XML, etc. documents.
